Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities found he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under home confinement.

The ex-president was convicted of planning a government overthrow in the ninth month and given more than over two decades in prison, but he continued under home detention pending legal challenges.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice the presiding justice said the action to imprison the septuagenarian politician was a precautionary step after "new facts" were revealed.
